News
- The Café style approach to the Annual General Meeting in June was well received and likely to be followed in future. All who attended felt it was much more participative and interesting (which AGMs are often not!)
- We've been saddened by the death of two members recently - Margaret Rusling and Frank Payne - both after a period of illness. Our sympathy goes to their families and close friends. Condolences are also expressed to the family of May Maynard who also died in early September
- The Friendship Time Afternoon Tea continues on the third Sunday of each month for anyone who may find Sunday afternoons a lonely time. September will be a Beetle Drive, in October we will share favourite poetry and in November we will have a guest speaker, in all probability from Age Concern. There will be no event in December. Rather, friends are invited to join us for our Candle-lit Carol service at 4.30pm on 21st December
- Building maintenance has been taking place during the summer - work to stop incoming dampness from loose stonework and repair of entrance doorways. We are also grateful to a small band of our own people who have been cleaning, gardening and attending to restoration and painting of window frames during the last couple of months.
- The "back" garden is undergoing alteration - erection of a shelter for Pre-School outdoor play and provision of a vegetable patch shared between Pre-School and Funshine Club, complete with compost bin.
- Invitations have been sent to people formerly associated with the Church to make a special effort to join us for Harvest Celebrations on 28 September. Equally, we'd love to see anyone else who might like to join us on this occasion - please let us know via the Contacts since we will be following the service with a shared lunch and it would be helpful to know the number for whom we should be catering.
- After much thought and prayer, we have decided to cease holding a regular Sunday evening service each week, from the end of September 2008. It is hoped to provide alternative opportunities for exploration and learning about the Christian faith on other occasions that better suit those who wish to participate.
